I would like to sell my property. Can I work with a real estate broker in this current situation?

Yes. Real estate brokers respect all Quebec government directives during this period of social distancing and have the technology tools to ensure proper follow-ups and to support you throughout the process of selling your property.

Even though open houses and in-person visits to properties (including empty and uninhabited properties) have been suspended since March 23 in order to restrict the spread of COVID-19, your real estate broker is still able to do a partial marketing of your property remotely by holding virtual visits and virtual open houses.

Note that as of April 20, the provincial government authorized the following real estate brokerage activities deemed to be a priority:

  • Real estate transactions whose occupancy date is on or before July 31, 2020.
  • Real estate transactions whose moving date is on or before July 31, 2020.

In-person property visits and pre-purchase inspection are the main professional acts where physical contact is possible under certain conditions and rules.

During the gradual resumption of real estate brokerage activities, your real estate broker will be able to inform you and accompany you safely according to the directives issued by the provincial government.
